Small Steps - This method was developed to work for very young children by organizing the learning process into very small steps so children can have success every week by mastering new skills.
Parent Learns Also - The parent and the child take the lesson together. The parent models good learning behavior and this prepares the parent to be the teacher at home.
As the student’s attention span increases over the weeks, the student’s lesson time increases. The parent then has the option to keep playing or to just take notes and videos at the student's lesson. The student and parent practice together at home. This should be a joyful time of family sharing. (However, just like doing homework or chores, this is not always the case.) For practicing ideas, check the Supplemental Reading List, and the American Suzuki Journal, available by joining the SAA. I also have back issues to loan out.
